D.R.I.V.E. A.W.A.Y. BEFORE YOU HAVE TO RUN AWAY BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE A CAR TO DRIVE!!
I'm 34 years old and this is the worst experience I've ever had in my life regarding any vehicle I've ever had, and I used to own a rental business with a fleet of 10 trucks. I had a business meeting an hour south of San Antonio so I went in to get a $30 oil change to make sure I didn't have any problems because I had a very small oil leak so just wanted to get some assurance. Next thing you know and I need to come out and talk to the tech so I go out there and he's got all my spark plugs pulled out and covers off and all sorts of stuff trying to upsell me. Excuse me, I said oil change and that's below the engine - what the hell are you doing touching anything else? They quote me hundreds of dollars, I reject, then they show me I need new tires so I get a couple used ones. So, firstly my $30 visit turned into $220. So then I head south and stop in Round Rock at a hotel for the evening prior to my appointments the next day and go in, get my hotel room, come back out and the very thing I tried to avoid with my oil change occurs - now my car won't start. Now I've never had a single instance since purchasing my wife's 06 Altima of the car not starting. I say screw it, I'm exhausted, and I go in to my hotel room and will deal with it the next day. I get up early and spend 2 hours purchasing tools and spark plugs and all sorts of stuff to try to get my car running to no avail. I call Samstone to complain and they basically say sorry, pound sand; so I have to set things with the hotel to leave my car there, rent a car to go to my appointments for the next 2 days, then return to Round Rock, turn in the car, have my car towed to a mechanic, who then sucks the oil out of the spark plug areas where it had all seeped down into because the Samstone guy took out my spark plugs WHEN I CAME IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. So I go to Samstone when I get back to town, they tell me I have 3 code errors and they can fix them for $300 bucks. I tell them hell no, I've never had problems with my car until they touched it and so the manager starts arguing with me as if I'm implying they deliberately sabotaged my car. No, I'm not implying that, I'm saying the facts are the facts and I've never had a problem with my car until they got under the hood of it so they need to make things right. Again, $300, so I ask if I give him the $300 does he guarantee that my car will be back to normal and he says no, it might be other problems. I say whatever and leave and spend the next 5 weeks fighting my car because it won't turn over unless I try to start it over and over. Then, this past Friday driving on George Bush one of the tires I purchased from Samstone blows out on the interstate and I almost die. I call Samstone to find out if it was one of the ones they replaced - it was - and they won't replace it unless I give them $35. POUND SAND!!! Then today, with my business unit GM from Madrid coming in tomorrow and me delivering marketing presentations, my car officially dies in the parking garage so I have to get a $50 cab ride to Las Colinas because now I'm without a car because of the recklessness of these buffoons. So now I have to get up at 5 am tomorrow morning, hitch a ride to work, pay a tow company to tow my car, rent a car for 2 days, then pay a mechanic hundreds of dollars to fix my car from where these guys f***** it up. So literally, my $30 oil change turned into a $1,000 hole in my pocket.
Moral to the story - STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. THEY WILL BLEED YOU, SCREW YOU, AND THEN TRY TO BLEED YOU SOME MORE WITHOUT APOLOGIZING AND LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LITERALLY
